The Organic and Biodynamic Gardens

Sustainable Practices

At Sunrise Springs we acknowledge our sacred relationship to the land. Our choices throughout the property reflect our commitment to sustainable practices, and ecology-based tourism.

The biodynamic gardens not only provide herbs and vegetables for our restaurant, but are also home to the many birds and butterflies that share the property with our guests.

The Organic and Biodyamic Gardens at Sunrise Springs Resort Spa

From its inception, the gardens at Sunrise Springs have been an integral part of its beauty and its vision. Owner, Megan Hill engaged leading horticulturalists such as Gabriel Howearth, founder of Seeds of Change to plan and define the landscape, which would continue to flourish many years later.

Biodynamic gardening—a method of farming that sustains soil productivity, and maintains biodiversity through the use of organic pest controls, crop rotations, composting, and the cyclical rhythms of nature —is used in the resort’s vegetable and herb gardens. Our chef and head gardener work closely to select plant varieties that do well in this environment, and provide the restaurant with heirloom ingredients for its natural and organic cuisine.
